A purse or pocket essential...
Go To Post     A purse or pocket essential these days, hand sanitizers make for the most convenient option for disinfection. What most people don’t realize is that as with washing with soap and water, the technique of sanitizing can be as important as the sanitizer. For a thorough disinfection, the World Health Organization emphasizes the duration of sanitizing of between 20 to 30 seconds, covering ALL surfaces, and allowing the alcohol-based formula to dry while rubbing the hands. This gives the solution enough exposure time to kill bacteria. Otherwise it could be pointless. In the WHO Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Health Care, it details the proper technique: “Apply a palmful of the product in a cupped hand, covering all surfaces. Rub hands palm to palm. Right palm over left dorsum with interlaced fingers and vice versa. Palm to palm with fingers interlaced. Backs of fingers to opposing palms with fingers interlocked. Rotational rubbing of left thumb clasped in right palm and vice versa. Rotational rubbing, backward and forward with clasped fingers of right hand in left palm and vice versa. Once dry, your hands are safe.” Here are some favorites in my stash that dampen the drying effect of alcohol with added skin moisturizers. @blkcosmeticsph Hand Detox, 70% alcohol with vitamin E and aloe vera and in various scents that are a delight!
